Barriers

BDI Security Solutions Ltd is able to offer a range of Vehicle Barrier Systems that are ideally suited to any industrial and commercial environment.

With a high quality range of Hydraulic or Electro-Mechanical Automatic Vehicle Barriers that incorporate the very latest in technology from the worlds leading manufacturers of access security systems, our experience and specialist knowledge enables us to provide complete security systems ranging from premises requiring just a single but efficient Automatic Barrier System to large multi site applications and multi storey car parking systems.

Whether a fully automatic system or just a basic manual system, we can carry out the full installation. Some of the vehicle barrier systems supplied and installed by BDI Security Solutions include:

  • 620 Standard Model - Operating speed of 3.5 to 4.5 seconds, beam length of 2 to 5 metres, choice of round beam or standard rectangular beam, also available with articulated beam, duty cycle 70%.
  • 620 Rapid Version - Operating speed of 2 to 3 seconds, beam length of 2 to 4 metres, choice of round beam or standard rectangular beam, duty cycle 100%.
  • 620 Super Rapid Version - Operating speed of 0.8 to 2.2 seconds, beam length of 2.25 to 3 metres, choice of round beam or standard rectangular beam, duty cycle 100%.
  • 640 Standard Model - Operating speed of 4 to 8 seconds, beam lengths of 4 to 7 metres, standard rectangular beam or articulated beam, duty cycle 100%.

The cabinets on the above models are supplied in RAL 2004 finish, but can be supplied in any BS or RAL colour to suit your corporate identity (at an additional cost). Cabinets are also all available in Stainless Steel Grade 304, for that high profile installation.

Optional Extras:

  • Barrier bottom lattice skirt.
  • Barrier top & bottom skirt (for high visibility applications) 5 metre MAX width only.
  • Pogo beam support.
  • Fork end support.
  • Beam lights.

A range of safety warning devices are also available, including:

  • Traffic Lights - To safely control access and egress
  • 'Stop' / 'No Entry' signs
  • Warning Signs - 'Danger Automatic Barrier', 'Caution Automatic Barrier' etc.
  • Flashing Lamp - Visible warning when barrier is in operation
  • Audible Siren - Sounds when barrier is in operation
  • Photo Electric Sensors

Additional Barrier Enhancement items:

  • Vandal release valve - can be fitted to prevent damage to barrier pump if the beam is forced open aggressively.
  • Automatic manual release - on power failure will allow beam to be raised without the need to use a release key. The beam can only be pushed up for safety reasons; it remains locked up until the power is restored.
  • 624 Slave board - allows simultaneous operation of two barriers.
  • 624 Relay board - allows output for the various barrier statuses to be used to signal external devices such as traffic lights.

Safety Notice

All automatically controlled systems should be fitted with a safety device to prevent accidental closing.

Where safety devices are not required and the system is controlled by manual means (i.e. push buttons), a clear view of the equipment must be available to the operator to ensure it is safe to operate the system.

If an operator cannot view the equipment, BDi Security Solutions strongly recommend that some form of safety device be fitted.

Please note:

Vehicle control equipment is designed to control the flow of motor vehicles only and it may be dangerous to allow pedestrians, equestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and vehicles towing trailers to travel through the areas controlled by this equipment. We recommend that alternative access routes are provided for this type of traffic and that suitable warning and direction signs are posted on both sides of all automatically controlled barriers.

Vehicle Detector Induction Loops

Vehicle detector induction loop systems are widely used on fully automatic operations to provide a safety interlock and prevent accidental closure or the barrier arm lowering when a vehicle is present but are not designed for use by pedestrians, equestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and vehicles towing trailers.
